On the crisp, sunny morning of September 11, 2001, 19 terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners. Two of these planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the iconic Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Within hours, the towers collapsed, leaving behind devastation and loss that still resonates deeply.
Another plane, American Airlines Flight 77, crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, while the fourth, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers heroically fought back against the hijackers. Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were lost that day, and the trauma of the attacks forever scarred countless others.
